researcher with over half a century in Christian Science
| The Bible is often referred
to as the "Word of God," but it hardly can be called that. Some
of it is contradictory, some erroneous, and some of it represents nothing
more than a collection of fireside stories from the times before written
languages came into use. Nevertheless, threaded through its pages is the
inspired word that has served mankind through the ages as a resource for
its spiritual development. However, we have reached the point where a
scientific platform is needed by which the Bible gains substantially in
its significance. Christian Science is that platform.
In comparison with the Bible, Christian Science qualifies far more prominently to be called the "word of God," which it represents more clearly than anything before. Mary Baker Eddy wrote about her discovery of Christian Science, saying, "God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing." S&H p.107 Christian science is far more than a personal construct of a gifted person. Its efficacy proves the point. The textbook that Mary Baker Eddy wrote for it, has brought healing to countless people, by merely reading the book. She added a hundred pages of testimonial to the book, as a small sample.
Still, it isn't the human mind that is causative in healing, but a divine force, which scientific perception enables us to avail ourselves of. That Christian Science itself is of a higher origin is indicated by her statement, "To-day, though rejoicing in some progress, she still finds herself a willing disciple at the heavenly gate, waiting for the Mind of Christ."(S&H ix:16) Christian Science is eminently scientific, a product of Christ Science. It is the fulfillment in our age on the vision of John the Revelator, who beheld a city foursquare descending from God to man. Every major work that Mary Baker Eddy has created, has been created by her in conformity with the dimension of the city foursquare. It is coming to light as a foursquare mental structure, a perfect platform for scientific and spiritual development. Mary Baker Eddy frequently used in its context the term divine Science. No greater resources exist for the practice of Christian Science than the above. However, there exists one more major basic structure that is also fundamental to Christian Science, especially its church, The Mother Church of Christ, Scientist. It is the triangle, representing divine Love, Truth, and Soul. Christian Science is also the answer of God to the modern age. With it rests the strength of civilization, the welfare of mankind, and ultimately its future survival, especially in the coming return of the Ice Age. More Christian Science Resources

These are all aspects of the holy sacrament of God being with us, or Christian Science being understood. With these, the sacrament unfolds as Truth (reality) being acknowledged. If elements of our sacrament are missing, such as generosity, humanity, honestly, and so on, there is something spiritually lacking in our experience and life is correspondingly emptier than it could be.
